Slow computers are no fun at all and they cost you precious time as you wait, and wait, and wait for a page to load. Eventually, any computer will need to be replaced or upgraded but in the mean time, you can greatly enhance the performance and keep it running smoother. With computers becoming easier to use practically every day, you wouldn't think this process would be difficult. it should be protected against Malwares and Adwares. Sudden shocks can harm your laptop as much as any malicious virus or spyware program. I have come across some few tips and hacks that can be applied directly to your system. All the tips and hacks, I mentioned is clearly tested my myself. It works Cool. If you have any issues send me an email.

1. Tweak Your PC's BIOS Settings the Safe Way.

2. Overclock your PC and graphics card:When you overclock your CPU, you set it to run it faster than its certified speed. This is usually okay because the CPU is designed to go beyond its stated velocity (chip makers build in a little cushion)

3. Push your RAM timing: Lower the CAS(Column Address Stroke, Refer - Wikipedia) Latency setting, typically from 3 or 2.5 to 2. This makes your memory faster.

4. Stop saving power: Disable any power-saving settings in your PC Setup program.

5.  Isolate your swap file: Your PC's swap file--or virtual memory--puts data onto the hard drive when your system's RAM gets full.

6. Check your AGP settings: Make sure the AGP Speed setting in your PC Setup program matches your graphics chip set's maximum (4X, 8X, and so forth.

• Register your software products
  
• Run a disk scan to check for hard drive issues
  
• Reg recommends doing this weekly. To be honest, hard disks are fairly resilient and due to the ever-increasing size this turns into a time-consuming exercise. I’d recommend every 3-6 months would be more than enough.
  
• Run a defragmentation program
  
• Clear your browsing history and Delete your cookies
  
• Keep Your Desktop Clear
  
• Check Your Startup Folder
  
• Do defragmentaton of your drives periodically.

Run Virus updates, Malware, Adware Tools regularly.

Forgotten BIOS Passwords !!

Dont worry !!

Here is an simple hack which will allow you to clear the BIOS Password.

• On the Motherboard, Remove the CMOS.
• There will be an jumper right behind the CMOS.
• Short those jumpers. Place a small piece of paper an put cmos on to the slot.
• Now, Power on the system. BIOS password will be cleared and you can boot to OS. We are done.

If you have an Windows Vista Non registered version, you can access it upto 30 days. On the 31st day, windows show Windows Activated - Please Enter your serial no to continue.

Here is an simple hack to extend your Period.

In reduced functionality mode, Microsoft allows you to open up a web-browser to connect to the internet to purchase Windows, however you can of course do other things with internet explorer, including running Windows Explorer.  

1.) From internet explorer, run Windows explorer (just c:\Windows\explorer.exe), once explorer runs, Windows will restore your desktop, etc..

2.) From Windows Explorer open command prompt in admin mode (All Programs|Accessories|Command Prompt), right click “Run as administrator”

3.) From command prompt type slmgr –rearm to reset activation to XX days.(120 days)

4.) Also, slmgr –dli to see activation information.

5.) Simply reboot..

Here is a simple windows tip, which will show you how to add a photo and name to My Computer Properties.

Open notepad and type the following.

[General]
Manufacturer=Your Name
[Support Information]
Line1=Your Name
Line2=Address
Line3=mail contact

Save as OEMINFO.INI in the C:\Windows\System32 folder.

 Thats it. Now Check your My Computer Properties. Enjoy..

Yet another hack. You wanna to see your photo too there. You can.
Here is the procedure.
Create a Photo(.bmp of file type) of 180x120 pixels and save it as oemlogo.bmp in C:\Windows\System32 folder.

Now your photo will be there in My Computer->Properties. Make the Change and show it to your friends.

How irritating is that when you want to do something from your own machine. Bcoz of the programmer who designed it.

Let's say one fine morning you said, I will rename 'Recycle Bin' to 'Use Me' or 'Trash Can'. Can you do it? … Well, you are lucky this time.

Just follow up the steps, its quite simple:

Open Registry Editor (regedit from Command Prompt).

Search for Recycle Bin through CNTRL + F.(Open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}\ShellFolder)

Change the "Attributes" data value from "40 01 00 20" to "50 01 00 20". Once completed change the "CallForAttributes" dword value to "0x00000000" (double-click and change value data to 0). You must change both of these values to get the rename to appear.

We are done now. Now Go and Change your Recycle bin. Also dont forget to give thumbs up tho this hub.

Microsoft has made “New Folder” as the default name. Even you enter the spacebar so many times to create blank spaces, it still will generate the “New Folder” text like this.

To do this trick, you need a keyboard with numpad. To rename the folder with blank spaces, just press Alt + 255 and hit Enter. Then you are successfully creating a folder without name in Windows XP.

But, make sure to press the numbers from the numpad and not from the numbers below the F1 – F12 keys. And take note that you only can create one folder without name in a directory.

Do you want to hide data from others with Still the folder available there ??

Yeah you can. I have an very simple hack that will protect your Folder(It makes in sucy an way as Control Panel). After you Lock the particular Folder, for any users it will open up the control Panel Instead of Original Content.

Here are the Steps to follow.

1. Create a .bat file name say "Lock.bat". Put the following contents in.                                               ren <Folder Name> <Folder Name>.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}

2. Create a .bat file name say "Key.bat". Put the following contents in .                                               ren <Folder Name>.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} <Folder Name>

In the above Pic, after running lock.bat. The folder appearance wll change. If you try to open that folder it will go to Control Panel hehehe. After running Key.bat, it will go back to your private Folder.

Very Imp Message:: You need to keep both the files safer(Not in the Same Folder Path)

Now, you should have an Folder and an Configuration file inside the Zip file.

Very important: These files are invisible. To View these files.. Go to Folder Option > View, check “Show Hidden files” and uncheck “Hide Protected Operating system files”. Then click OK. 

Ok. Are you ready for the experiment. Here you go.

1. Copy Folder Settings and desktop.ini into your selected location like C: partition or D: or pendrive.(where you want to change the background).

2. Go to Folder Settings and find the related picture in it.( actually, you can put any pics to this folder).

3. Now, Open dektop.ini and look for.

IconArea_Image=Folder Settings\tripod.jpg ------>> You can change it to your Fav Pic.

Thats it. Save and Close it. We are done. Refresh your partition. Now your partition is colorful with your pic there.

### To make the folder hidden again after changing the background, go to Folder Option > View, uncheck Show Hidden files and check Hide protected operating system files. Finish.

Nice isn’t it? Now its your turn to change your background…Come on.. Have fun !!

When windows updates are installed a popup will say "Do you want to restart the computer now". Most of the people will be uncomfortable. They might be working on a severe issue. I have an trick that will disable the windows restart prompt. It will be done when you restart your system.

How to do ??

• Open Notepad(Start > Run > "Notepad" > OK)
• Type net stop wuauserv.
• Save the file as "Stop Nagging at me.bat" (Make sure Save as type is All Files)

When Windows starts nagging you to restart, just double click this to run it and stop the service. You won’t be bothered again. The service will restart when you reboot. Thats it. 

If you are aware of any other easier ways to stop automatic updates from restarting share your thoughts.

It been very hard to remember all passwords. How we can make sure, your passwords can be hard to hack. How to do that. Here it goes

Shift one letter right in your keyboard. Thats it.

This is easy for you to remember as well as your password is secured(Very hard for hackers to hack)
